See how far we have come!
(Skyeluck Grand La Lia x GCHS Gleanntan’s Sure Shot Greyjoy)
Grace x Archer was our first Skye litter at Skyward born December 16, 2020. We had 4 girls and 2 boys. The "A" litter theme was Astronomy and our puppies were named Luna, Journey, Eclipse, Fathom, Niel, and Fate.
Grace is a wonderful Skye Imported from Finland, Skyeluck Kennels. Anu, Grace's breeder, has been our guide for breeding decisions from day one. Being my mentor in skyes, her decisions greatly influence our program. Archer was a Skye that she was able to see at the Montgomery Kennel Club dog show and Skye Terrier National, Anu and I both fell in love with his character and structure. Later on Archer went on to win Best in show at the World Dog Show and the Montgomery Terrier Specialty (being the first Skye to do so). Archer also Won Group 1 at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show, an accomplishment I was able to see in person while we were there showing Zuma.
We hoped that the breeding with Grace and Archer would produce puppies that had slightly more bone, better shoulder layback, a more outgoing temperament, while maintaining both dog's fluid movement. I'd say we got exactly what we hope for. You can find the a litter puppies in the show ring, scent work, and of course loving lap dogs.

Phoenix x Garrett was our first Border Collie litter at Skyward born July 4, 2021. We had 6 boys. The "B" litter theme was Beaches and our puppies were named after California Beaches: Balboa, Rincon, Zuma, Pfeiffer, Beacon, and Maverick.
Phoenix, the matriarch here at Skyward, is a German import from Simaro Border Collies. She was selected for our program based on temperament, structure, and pedigree. Simaro border collies has always been transparent about the temperment of her dogs and has a beautiful history in conformation. Phoenix's sire Digger, another stunning example of the breed, went BOB and Pastoral Group 3 soon after Phoenix was welcomed into our home. Phoenix began her conformation career with a bang, going Reserve Winner Bitch at the BCCGLA specialty at just 7 months old. She quickly picked up majors in California and Colorado, finishing her CH at just 9 months old ALL JUNIOR OWNER HANDLED! Phoenix became Skywards first Champion and Grand Champion. At 13 months, we made the trek to Florida for the AKC national, where we made it to the second cut. Phoenix to me has a perfect temperment for a Border Collie. If I could duplicate her I would. She is super biddable, high food and toy drive with a no quit attitude. She has always had a lovely off switch, low arousal, and medium energy.
Garrett is a very well known stud that has overproduced himself time and time again. Garrett went Reserve Best Puppy in Sweepstakes at the BCSA National in 2013. Garrett was bred to a Simaro dog in the past and produced some gorgeous puppies for Silvia. That litter was the one of the main reasons I chose garrett as a stud. In addition to that, Garrett has produced many sweet tempered, versatile border collies so he was a perfect fit for our program.
The goal of this litter was to maintain a high drive, natural off switch, and sweet temperament from Phoenix, while improving length of body, rear angulation, and topline. This litter, while absolutely gorgeous, picked up some higher arousal from Garretts side of the pedigree and took longer to mature mentally. We had two puppies that were unilateral and one cryptorchid. With that said, I'm still incredibly happy with this litter now that they are From this litter I kept Zuma as a conformation prospect. I wasn't prepared for the journey he would take us on. You can read about his amazing career on his page
